Healthy Feet

Sporting treatments

Whether at an amateur or at professional level, we see patients who are involved in physical activities like swimming, walking, running and playing sport.

Reasons may include:

  • Knee pain
  • Leg pain – shin splints, muscle and tendon sprains or tears
  • Fractures including stress fractures
  • Ankle pain
  • Foot pain
  • Low back or groin pain
  • To optimise performance

We often assess by using video gait analysis incorporating our treadmill. Where required, we can also arrange an on-site analysis (e.g. at the track) to simulate exact conditions.

Biomechanical evaluation may also be carried out using instrumentation and experience, to ascertain the appropriate angles and positions of your hips, legs and feet compared to recognised normal values.

Treatment may include:

  • Advice on training, footwear and modification or adjustment of equipment such as cycling gear and ski boots
  • Prescription orthotic therapy
  • Stretching exercise programmes

As members of both Sports Medicine Australia and the Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, our podiatrists take an active and ongoing interest in all areas of podiatric sports medicine education.

Our practice has regular contact with other health professionals such as sports physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, radiologists and sports physiotherapists.
