Adam Glascock

Principal Podiatrist B App Sc (Pod)

Adam Glascock studied Podiatry at the University of Western Sydney, graduating in 2001. He came to Newcastle Family and Sports Podiatry on second year placement and formed a strong interest in elite sports and paediatrics at that time. Through mentoring, he became good friends with former practice principal Allan Boys, culminating in Adam who became practice partner in 2007. He took over the reigns of the practice in 2010.

Adam’s present patient cohort includes paediatrics from birth to teens with a focus on optimizing altered gait secondary to illness or injury, along with elite junior athletes. Particular areas of interest include cerebral palsy and unstable gait along with various autistic spectral disorders including sensory processing deficiencies. He is widely sort after by Hunter region medical professionals to consult in regards to these conditions, and is currently lecturing on a wide variety of topics including cerebral palsy gait and sports biomechanics.

Previously the Director and President of the Australian Podiatry Association of NSW and ACT, Adam has enacted a structured business plan to move the profession forward. More recently he has also been appointed to the Board of the New South Wales Podiatry Council, which regulates the conduct of podiatrists within the state.

An active member of both Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) and the Australasian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine (AAPSM) he has presented both lectures and case studies at many levels. An avid distance runner he has previously completed Ironman Australia along with numerous adventure races and currently runs for fun with both friends and family.

A firm believer in early intervention Adam lectures in a wide area to preschool carers and parents regarding the need for early podiatric assessment by a suitably qualified professional.

Kurt Robertson

Podiatrist B Pod PG CertHealSc (MSMT)

Kurt joined Newcastle Family and Sports Podiatry in 2009. He obtained a Bachelor of Podiatry from the University of Newcastle. He has a passion for rehabilitation of injuries and also preventative interventions.  He works predominately with biomechanical based chronic injuries and pain management and enjoys the challenge of acute and chronic injury treatment.  Having worked with professional athletes for over 10 years in many capacities, Kurt brings that experience now to his work as a Podiatrist.

Kurt also works currently as Podiatry Consultant for the Newcastle Knights and the Newcastle Jets, Kurt attends team training regularly in close consultation with Physiotherapists, sports doctors and other health professionals. He also regularly treats players within Newcastle Family and Sports Podiatry.  Through his work with these athletes, Kurt understands the importance of performing at an optimal level and how much your lower limbs influence this.  Finding ways to improve performance as well as recovery from injuries to the lower limb form part of his roles.

Recently Kurt was invited to provide continuing education for the Australian Podiatry Association of NSW and ACT. He traveled to rural regions of NSW to run lectures and workshops on varying components of his experience with working with athletes. Kurt was also invited to present for the members of the Australasian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine (AAPSM) as well as presenting at the most recent Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) conference in Sydney.

Kurt is a qualified Level 2 Sports Trainer and a member of the Australasian Academy of Podiatric Sport Medicine, Sports Medicine Australia and the Australian Podiatry Association. He is currently completing post graduate study in Musculoskeletal Management through the sports medicine program at the University of Otago.

Kurt believes the key to all injury prevention and management is a quality and accurate assessment. He uses his skills to ensure this is the case for all of his patients. 

Paul Mountford

Podiatrist B Pod

Paul has been involved with the practice since 2010. He has a sporting back ground as an elite Australian Junior surfer, competing on the Australian Professional Junior series until 2003 and representing Merewether Board riders club, surf labels Quicksilver and Otis as well as Sanbah surf shop during this time. 

After competing his interest turned to surf coaching where he discovered fitness training, injury prevention and rehabilitation. As he explored this vocation he met Alan Boys and Adam Glascock who introduced him to Podiatry.

Motivated by what he learned from Alan and Adam, Paul decided to pursue his career and completed his Podiatry studies at Newcastle University. He now specializes in general and sports podiatry. Paul continues to be mentored by Adam and draws from his vast experience as well as emerging evidence in the field.

Dru Tonks

Podiatrist B Pod

Dru joined our family practice in 2016 after completing his degree at the University of Newcastle in 2015. Although from Newcastle, Dru spent 5 years growing up in the Bay of Plenty, North Island, New Zealand. 

Dru has a broad sporting background, competed at a national level for swimming, and represented Newcastle in Water Polo, AFL and Cricket. A keen rugby player growing up in NZ and then played for Merewether Carlton, due to an injury unfortunately had to stop playing however picked up the whistle refereeing and currently on the NSW Country A panel. Dru has a particular interest in biomechanics and sports related injuries, as well as the rehabilitation pathways involved.

Maddison Horvath

Podiatrist B Pod

Maddison graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Podiatry in 2014. Joining Newcastle Family and Sports Podiatry in 2016, Maddison has had a longstanding relationship with the practice as a patient of principal podiatrist Adam Glascock.
Maddison’s sporting background includes both netball and touch football, representing Newcastle at the Junior State Championships in both sports. Maddison now focuses on coaching young netball players, with experience at a club and representative level, via West Leagues Netball Club and Newcastle Netball Association respectively.
Maddison’s skills are presently focused on general podiatric care and enhancing sporting performance through orthotic therapy. Her experiences internally, at the practice, and externally, through her sporting career, have uncovered a strong interest in biomechanics and sports podiatry.

Maddison is also an active member of the Australasian Podiatry Association, Sports Medicine Australia and the Australasian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine.

Both Assistants joined family practice in 2015 / 2016 bringing with them a wealth of patient and dental experience / sterilization and infection control to our practice.
